The Louis Calder Foundation currently gives funding consideration to educational programs in four main areas: development of new charter and independent faith-based K-12 schools; expansion of existing, high-performing charter management organizations and diocesan schools; teacher and leadership development; and school capital projects. Please visit Our Approach and Grant Program pages to review The Foundation’s mission and current grant-making strategies.

Charter management organizations, new and existing charter schools, parochial schools and not-for-profit organizations emphasizing academic achievement and utilizing a content-rich, liberal arts curriculum are encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry with a summary of their plans, programs and projects that meet The Foundation’s objectives.

The background letter should focus on the organization’s vision of their goals, their academic model for educating students, as well as their start-up or expansion plans.
